1/4 red capsicum, cut into strips (for cheese sandwich)
1/4 continental cucumber, thinly sliced and cut into sticks (for cheese sandwich)
1 mandarin (for snacks)

Step 2
Wrap and place in lunch box with cucumber sticks, capsicum strips and 1 tbs Tzatziki Honey-cinnamon Roasted Chickpeas: 1. Place chickpeas on a plate lined with paper towel and set aside to drain for 1 hour, to remove excess moisture.

Top Tips For The Best Dental Care For Children
Caddens Dental Bar love teaching kids and their parents how to take the best care of their teeth every day. However, dental care for children doesn’t end at the dental clinic. There are a number of key things to keep in mind when it comes to keeping your kid’s teeth in tip-top condition.
Baby teeth matter
Baby teeth will eventually fall out to make way for the adult teeth but cleaning them is still important. If decay causes them to be removed, it can cause crowding when your kids’ adult teeth emerge.
Ensure your children brush twice daily using a soft-bristled toothbrush and a pea-sized amount of toothpaste, which they shouldn’t swallow, remembering to brush for 2 minutes at a time. Use an egg timer to make time keeping fun for your child. Flossing should be introduced when they are able to do it for themselves and should start when they have 2 teeth that are in contact.
Regular dental visits
At the age of 1 at the latest, or within 6 months of the first tooth appearing, your child should see their dentist regularly and understand that visiting the dentist is an important part of growing up. The Australian Dental Association recommends that children should visit the dentist for a regular check-up once every 6 months to maintain good oral health.
Good eating and drinking habits
To develop strong teeth, your children need a healthy, balanced diet made up of fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and lean meats. High sugar foods should be kept to a minimum, and they should drink plenty of fluoridated tap water.
5 dental care tips for kids to stop decay in its tracks
Avoid snacks that are sticks, gummy, chewy or sweet.
Avoid grazing! Have set meal times and form a routine.
Limit fruit to two servings per day. Fruit is good, but too much can be harmful.
Give your kids water with every meal to help wash away lingering food.
Be selective with snacks (remember snacks are meals in between main meals, so they should be light and low in sugar). Veggies, cheeses, and lean meats are great and tasty options.
Babies can get decay too
Never put soft drinks, juice, flavoured milk or anything sweet in your baby’s bottle. You are exposing them to high concentrations of sugar for long periods of time, which is a recipe for decay. A bottle with water is ok.
How to check if your child has decay
It’s wise to check every now and then.
Lift up their top lip, roll down their bottom lip so you can see the gums, and look for white patches on the teeth that are close to the gum and don’t come off after brushing. This is a sign that tooth decay might be a problem. However, if you see grey, brown or black spots anywhere on the teeth, this is not a good sign, and you should book an appointment with your dentist straight away.
A change in behaviour or if your child is kept awake at night can also be a sign of tooth decay.
Kids dental emergency
Accidents happen! And when they do, your kids’ teeth may get knocked out or damaged. Familiarising yourself with dental first aid means that you will be well prepared for handling a dental emergency correctly.
Dental Care for Children
It’s never too early to begin teaching proper oral hygiene to your children. Behaviours learned when they’re young tend to stick with them throughout life. The Caddens Dental Bar offers the best children’s dentistry in Caddens, Penrith. They are a fun and friendly dental clinic for children, and they love making your kids smile.

Do I Really Need A Face Serum Before Turning 30?
There’s no shortage of information when it comes to skincare. Still, the world of skincare can be difficult to navigate and the right face care products might sometimes be hard to find —whether it’s deciding which ingredients are better than others, how to find the right products for your skin type, or even when to start using a face serum.
The one thing we know for sure when it comes to the latter: the old adage that you don’t need high-powered skincare until you start noticing signs of aging couldn’t be farther from the truth. Our point of view at Lancôme: it’s never too early to start investing in your skin. Start practicing good habits, like incorporating our iconic anti-aging serum Génifique Ultimate collection, before you hit your 30s.
Skin care tips: What’s Going on With Your Skin
The best skin care routine for Your Skin in Your 20
In your 20s, you’ve made it through the hormonal, breakout-prone teen years (for the most part), wrinkles haven’t quite set in, and lines and spots are sparse. Skin has the ability to bounce back from a late night with a just splash of cold water. Yet even with time on your side, these are also the years when you’re building your career and life—stress levels are high, and your schedule couldn’t be busier. Sleep—which is key for skin rejuvenation—is a rare treat.
Experts agree that this decade is the perfect time to start building the foundation for good skin. It is important to know the basics of an effective skincare routine: cleanse, apply a face serum, and moisturize twice a day with the right skin care products. Still convinced you’re too young? You don’t necessarily have to apply a hydrating serum every day. Skin serums can also bring light and hydration to the skin on an as-needed basis.
Why Skin Changes in Your 30s
30 may be the new 20, but most women begin to notice the first signs of aging a few years into the decade. With cell regeneration slowing down, lines and wrinkles emerge, sun damage crops up, and tired eyes become a regular thing. Collagen and elastin production slow down, too, so skin loses bounce and starts to sag, while loss of moisture makes it appear drier and less plump. Skin also begins to thin and lose its natural radiance, so it’s duller and less awake-looking.
How to Treat Skin Changes and reduce wrinkles
Our Classic for Early Aging: the Face Serum Génifique Ultimate
Step 1
Revive Youthful Radiance: the anti-aging face serum Lancome Génifique Ultimate works on signs of early aging from the start, from loss of radiance—one of the most obvious things to go—to uneven skin texture. It improves your skin’s natural barrier and surface with probiotics fractions in every drop so that your skin immediately looks younger, and more luminous in as little as 7 days*. Just apply a few drops after having used a face cleanser (its self-loading dropper makes it easy to measure out), twice a day to the face and neck. The light, non-greasy consistency is also ideal for young skin that may not be ready for richer textures.
* Clinical study & self-assessments on 34 women
The Face Serum for Bad Skin Days: Advanced Génifique Sensitive
Step 2
Our skin changes daily and sometimes our main concern is less about signs of aging and more about the fact that skin just feels a little… off. Stress, diet, pollution, wacky weather, and lack of sleep (among other factors) all contribute to outbreaks of sensitivity when your face feels tight, dry, and red. When those days arrive, it’s time to trade the classic facial serum Génifique Ultimate with the skin-soothing face serum for sensitive skin Advanced Génifique Sensitive at nighttime. Enriched with probiotic fractions and antioxidants like ferulic acid and Vitamin E, the Advanced Génifique Sensitive facial serum helps to soothe sensitive skin and has an anti-free radicals action.
Advanced Génifique Facial Mask: For When You Need an Extra Boost
Step 3
Discover the benefits of the refreshing face mask Advanced Génifique Hydrogel Melting Mask. Did you know that such a single bio-cellulose sheet mask contains the equivalent amount of bifidus extract found in a full bottle of 30 ml Génifique Ultimate facial serum? For a spa-like experience at home, apply the cooling sheet to your face for up to 30 minutes. It combines Lancôme’s patented Génifique Ultimate formula and a hydrogel texture that sticks to your face like a second skin, hydrating for immediately radiant, smoother skin.
And for your eyes: eye serum Génifique Light Pearl
Step 4
The eye serum Advanced Génifique Light Pearl is the complement to the Génifique Ultimate face serum. Being an illuminating and hydrating eye serum with a neat massage-tip applicator, it helps reach the most inaccessible corners and minimize dark circles, appearance of exhaustion signs, and puffiness. Tired eyes—and skin—begone!
Find Lancome Génifique skincare range at Terry White Chemmart - Caddens Corner.

Pistachio Martini Cocktail Recipe
If you’re nuts about pistachios, this easy three step recipe will become your go-to cocktail for an evening treat or the star at your next dinner party. A mix of vodka and pistachio ice cream becomes the base for this simple but creamy cocktail, made even more delicious with Baileys. Grab your cocktail shaker and shake things up with a Baileys Pistachio Martini.
Ingredients
25ml Baileys Original Irish Cream from BWS - Caddens Corner
50ml Smirnoff Vodka
2 Scoops Pistachio
Ice Cream or Gelato
Roasted pistachio nuts
Freeze dried raspberries
Pistachio butter or melted chocolate
Allergies
Milk
Nuts
Directions
STEP ONE
On a chopping board crush some pistachios. Choose between either pistachio butter or melted chocolate and smear a small amount around one side of your martini glass. Carefully roll this side into your crushed pistachios to create a delicate but delicious decoration. Put your decorated Martini glass into the fridge to chill.
STEP TWO
Next, grab a chilled cocktail shaker and add the pistachio ice cream. Pour over the vodka and creamy Baileys. Close the shaker and shake for up to a minute to make sure the ice cream melts.
STEP THREE
Strain the delicious liquid into your chilled martini glass and if you can resist long enough, sprinkle over the dehydrated raspberries. For a yummy twist, try different toppings such as white chocolate shavings or a dollop of whipped cream.
The first sip is yours, yum!

Are you drinking enough water?
Are you drinking enough water?
It is commonly recommended that we be drinking around 2 litres of water a day. This goes up if you are exercising, especially on a hot day. With our bodies being made up of around 60% water, then it makes sense that we are replenishing throughout the day.
In this blog, Plus Fitness - Caddens Corner is going to give you our top 6 reasons for why you need to make sure you are drinking enough water each day.
1. Water will maximise your performance during exercise
If we don’t keep hydrated, then our physical performance will suffer. It is not uncommon for athletes to lose up to 6-10% of their body’s water content just from sweating. This can then impact body temperature control, reduce motivation, increase fatigue, and make it feel much harder to exercise from both a physically and mentally perspective. However, remaining hydrated has been shown to prevent this from happening. When you consider that muscle is made up of around 80% water, then it is not surprising that staying well hydrated both before, during, and after exercise will help you to perform at your best!
2. Drinking enough water can help with weight loss
Drinking plenty of water can help you with your weight loss. This is largely due to water increasing satiety, which is the feeling of fullness and satisfaction that can boost your metabolic rate.
In certain studies, drinking half a litre of water was shown to increase metabolism by 24-30% for up to 1.5 hours. Doing the sums means that drinking 2 litres of water every day could increase your total energy expenditure by up to 96 calories per day.
The timing of your water consumption is also important. Drinking water half an hour before a meal is the most effective way to benefit satiety. It can make you feel fuller so that you eat fewer calories, helping to keep you more on track to your max calorie daily target.
3. Water can help prevent a hangover
A hangover, as most of us know, is that unpleasant symptom experienced after drinking alcohol. This is largely due to alcohol being diuretic, which means it makes you lose more water than you take in. This can then lead to dehydration. Although dehydration is not the main cause of your hangover, it can cause symptoms like thirst, fatigue, headache, and dry mouth. A good way to reduce the scale of your hangover is to drink a glass of water between drinks. Drinking one or two large glasses of water before going to bed after a big night out will also help to prevent that dreaded hangover.
4. Water can help prevent and treat headaches
Dehydration can trigger headaches and migraines in some people. Several studies have shown that water can relieve headaches in those who are dehydrated. Keeping hydrated has also been shown to prevent headaches, especially in those that perform regular exercise.
5. Hydration has a positive effect on energy levels and brain function
Your brain is strongly influenced by your level of hydration. Studies show that even mild dehydration (1-3% of body weight) can negatively impact many aspects of brain function. In a study of young women, fluid loss of 1.36% after exercise impaired both mood and concentration and increased the frequency of headaches. Another similar study in young men showed that fluid loss of 1.59% was detrimental to working memory and increased feelings of anxiety and fatigue.
6. Drinking enough water can relieve constipation
Constipation is a common problem and can be especially common in those who have a high-protein diet if they are not consuming enough fibre. Increasing fluid intake is often recommended as a part of the treatment protocol for constipation. Carbonated water has been shown to work particularly well here, although the reasons are not entirely understood.

Back to School: How To Keep Lunch Boxes Cool
Tips to keep your kid’s lunch box fresher for longer
A delicious and healthy lunch is packed and ready to go, but how do you know it will stay fresh for your kids to enjoy at lunchtime? Not only is warm yoghurt not tasty, it’s also not safe to eat. Try these simple packing tips that will keep your child’s lunch cold, fresh and safe to enjoy when lunchtime comes around.
Hack 1: No ice packs? No worries!
Not all of us have the freezer space for bulky ice packs. Dampen a clean sponge (one you haven’t used yet!), then freeze it overnight in a reusable food storage bag. The next day, put it in the bottom of a lunch box or bag for a DIY ice pack. You can do the same with a water bottle by freezing it overnight and storing it in a lunch box. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Hack 2: Use insulated food containers to keep food warm or cold
Insulated food storage containers are great for keeping food warm, such as soup. They’re also good for keeping food like fruit, yoghurt and apple purée cold.
Hack 3: Keep it fresh
Toss sliced apples, peaches, apricots or pears in water or a little lemon juice to prevent browning. Pop the fruit in resealable airtight bags in the fridge to chill before packing it into lunch boxes.
Hack 4: Keep it insulated
An insulated lunch bag goes a long way in keeping food fresh. They’re easy to clean (simply wet and wipe), and ensure your kid’s delicious food stays fresh and cool. Put an empty lunch bag in the freezer the night before filling it to help lunch stay colder for even longer.
Hack 5: Frozen blocks
Pack a lunch box with ice blocks or bricks to keep it cool. Have different shapes and sizes to fit any type of lunch box. Frozen water bottles can also do the trick, keeping a lunch box cold while becoming a refreshing drink when melted. This method can dampen the inside of the lunch box though, so ensure all lunch contents are wrapped well or are in containers to avoid mushy food.
Not everything has to be kept cool. You won’t need iceblocks for whole fruits, vegetables, canned fish, bread, crackers and some spreads.
Hack 6: Fresh in the freezer
Putting frozen food items into your child’s lunch box allows the food to slowly thaw over a couple of hours, just in time for lunch. Pack with an ice block to ensure a slow and safe defrost before eating.
